I don't know wither to laugh or cry at the fact that you are calling this a :pt1cable: "performance rig" :pt1cable:       !!!

The system you have described would be a good media center system for my grandma, or a good office computer... but there is no way that the onboard video ( a screeching ATI Radeon Xpress 1250.(scorn intended!) ..) would be good for more that playing HALO 1 at medium settings- if it plays at all . I see lots of spredsheets and word doccuments (mabey some M.A.M.E. gamming and W.O.W. at low settings and lots of dvd watching) in your future unless you plan to get a PCI-E video card.

Seriously, I can understand your desire to go cheap but I think you took it too far. Add this card and you Might be able to game some of the newer stuff like Bioshock, COD4, Oblivion, fear and farcry---http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130318

but I would forget about playing any of those games listed higher than medium settings on a widscreen 19 inch lcd, and count out ever playing Crysis as your cpu is going to be the Bottleneck of this whole system even with the card I mentioned. This prosessor should alow more breathing room http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103772

With these 2 parts you wont need an upgrade for about 3 more years.

But this is just my Scottish, (not so)humble opinion laddie. :sol:

I concur. A very good media center PC. Not sure about the power supply though. 580w is more than enough, but if it is poor quality, the power rating is irrelevant. Cheap power supplies also tend to be noisy, making them not really suitable for a media center.

I think that computer is a great deal for that price...like the other posters said, u wont be able to run any games with the onboard graphics, but you could easily slap on a decent pci express video card and you'd be able to play any current video game (prolly except crysis...dont worry though...many of us are in the same boat...lol) Other than that...you're good to go...

Again, not too sure on PSU, how many amps does it state on your 12+ volt rail?

Tip, tigerdirect is good, I've had great experiences shopping with them, but also check out newegg.com, decent rep and good pricing. But I know some people who will pay more at tiger b/c of the customer service.
