specs:
rampage formula motherboard
old sata hp 500gb hard drive (want to set to secondary )
new sata hitachi 250gb hard drive (which i want to set up as master instead of hp 500gb hdd)

i have just purchased a hitachi 250gb hard drive which have formatted, and installed vista. My old hard drive also has vista which i want to format and leave my new hdd as the master.

I have gone into bios (version 0407) and changed the boot order to hitachi hdd 1st, floppy 2nd, and dvd drive 3rd, but every time i try to load vista from my new drive a message comes up saying 'reboot and select media device'. i have also made sure my new drive is connected to sata 1 connection on my motherboard.

(my new hdd does not have any jumpers, only sata power connector, sata data connector, and 2 pins to the right which are exposed).

if anyone could help me most grateful.

many thanks,
lee

did you install vista on the new drive with or without the origional drive in the computer? If installed, try removing during the install and only put it back in once everything is up and running.
