Matshita dvd-ram uj-850s ata device

Forum Windows Vista : General Discussion Matshita dvd-ram uj-850s ata device

I have a Toshiba which has this DVD drive and the computer is not seeing the drive any more- it does not even show up in 'My Computer' and cannot be accessed at all. The message that I am getting is :"This device cannot start (Code 10)" Is this a software prblem or what? I never droped my computer or banged it!
Any ideas?
