Got a friend that's just installed Windows XP Home on a 4.5GB partition and he is having trouble patching / etc. because of his lack of HDD space on that partition. (obviously, since Windows downloads all updates to the OS partition by default) I've told him that he is probably screwed and is going to have to reinstall / reformat with bigger partitions to get it to work.

Anyways, I'd figure I'd ask to see if anyone here knew how to go about extending a partition w/o wiping all the data on the current partition. (Maybe there is some way to logically extend it? Not sure)

Partition Magic and a decent plan should have ya friend set up in no time.

If ya don't wanna buy PM, this has a free trial period:

Plan should include a FAT32 partition behind ya C:\drive for page and temp files.
