I was reading some articles and catching up on my penryn news. I have a E6300 gaming system and Im looking in the next few months to upgrade. I am looking to finally go DX10. I've never o/c'd and I don't see myself doing it anytime soon. Take away the extreme processors and which would give me a combo of good speed and framerates? Is Penryn E9550 the one to get? I noticed the C2D E6000's are being replaced with E8000 family. Any significance? I was curious what a good combo----processor/ram/dx10 card would be?

Games in the future that I will be getting: Flight Simulator X, Rigs n Roll, Pirates of the Burning Sea (MMORPG), Conan (MMORPG), maybe Spore, and of course my Sims 2 expansions as they roll'em out.

ATi is more vocal and public about their upcoming cards.

nVidia plays things a bit closer and doesn't release much info.

I would look for nVidia to try to trump the release of the RV770 or release just after it. (Summer)

I think the release of the new 3870 X2 will be tomorrow (Monday 21), is that correct? I can't imagine the price of it. Also the 9800 is going to be released too if it wasn't already....

AMD stated there would be no new GPU's from them in 2008, it's all about when Nvidia releases their next generation at this point.

Word, Playa.

Link?

I know the G100 is planned for Q208.

The RV770 is supposedly already taped out and ready for ES's.

Yea, it's FUD... But I tend to believe the situation about the RV770.

The R680 is looking REALLY good... Almost good enough for me to switch back to ATi if R780 turns out the same.

So NVidia's GTX would be the card to go DX10? (since ATI/AMD isnt releasing anything new?

What's 3870 x2? AMD's processor?

I was looking at a Penryn processor--the one that replaces the Q6600 and get a 8800GTX

GTX is 18 months old. Hold out another month or so.

HD3870X2 = R680.

9800 GX2 is out soon.
