Maybe someone on this forum can advise me.Ive emailed asus--no response.....So Im going to upgrade my m/b-cpu/memory & vid. Ive picked the X-2 6400, 2gOCZreaper hpc or the titanium (both 3-4-4-15)ddr2/800, asus en8800gts/top/htdp/512m(when its available).BUT I want an AM2+ nvidia sli board. There isnt one though.Whats up with that??I want to save money hence Im not going with a intel 6850.I figure the 6400 is almost as fast for gaming. And furture proofing is important since I only do a major upgrade every 2-3 years. So does anyone know if a AM2+ sli board is coming out soon???And what the hold up is on that kick ass asus gts vid card?? my current setup is an asus A8V,FX57,1g OCZ platinum, gecube X1950xt,(agp),X-fi fatal1ty xtreme gamer pro, silverstone ZEUS 560W(ST56ZF)with a 38A 12V rail.G tower case, raptor hd and a dvd burner.
Check out newegg, I know they carry a gigabyte board, which is an AM2 board that does SLI. Personally I have one and it's great so far. I believe newegg's price is around 85, would have to look up more on it again. But look at gigabyte's website, I think with a BIOS update, this board can take the quad cores, but do your research and make sure.
Sorry you guys but those are AM2 boards, not AM2+/AM2 boards.I will go with a phenom next year after they get the kinks worked out and the speed gets a little better.Plus AM2+/AM2 has PCIe 2.0.(future proofing is sort of why I want to go with AM2+/AM2. MSI-K9A2platinum is what Im considering if no sli is out in the next 6 weeks.
As I said, on the Gigabyte, you have to do a bios update, but I believe it's supposed to support Phenom later on. I'm sure the same is the case with the other board mentioned. It's actually this one...
Again, I beleive it will support AM2+ with a bios update. I guess it must be off of sale as it was about 85 before. But if that's the same board I am thinking of, then I have one of those running an AMD 5200 x2 and it is a pretty nice board. Only thing I would mention is though on the width of the board for when you put it in the case, mine was not quite wide enough for the holes to match up to the screw holes on the very very far right of the case near the cd rom/hard drives, but the board still stretches partway over that. The quick fix for me was take the plastic standoffs that come with your case, cut the tops off, and put them in the screw holes so that way the board cannot come in contact with your case and short.
