Sales are higher since at 2.5 million integrated HDTV sets end of March
another 124,000 STBs. First quarter is the slowest though going by past
history.

Half of Japan will be covered by end of this year and all stations are
required to offer digital terrestrial by end of next year.

Several operators will offer a free (initially) mobile phone
broadcast-simulcast of DTT offering on 1-segment (ISDB-T is a 13 segment
system)by end of year in Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya areas.

HDTV is prime time with multicasting other times.

What I don't understand is the articles negative note on the fact that
in a nation of 100 million ONLY 2.6 million OTA HDTV receivers sold in
the FIRST year. And that with only three cities with broadcasting. How
many will they sell this year with 50% coverage by end of year or next
year with all stations in the country doing DTV?

Can you imagine the hoopla here if we had sold three times as many
integrated sets or 7.5 million (we are three times bigger) our first
year with 8-VSB?
