Hello,

Windows XP updates were downloaded to my laptop several days ago and I have not
been able to use my computer properly since.
It Boots up and will connect to the Internet, I then get a...
'Server.exe Application Error' window etc etc.
Next a 'System Shutdown NT/Authority/System' window appears with reference to
'Status Code 1073741819'

After the countdown my computer just hangs and I am unable to connect to the
Internet or use any windows programs.

I have just been able to get IE8 running by doing a Start Up from
'Last Known Good Configuration'

But don't know where to go from here??? and don't want to Shut it down again until
some of these issues have been resolved.

Love some HELP Please

turn back the clock on the computer, to before the updates were installed:

A. Have you tried to run system restore, setting the drive back to a time before the computer became corrupted? Restore does not erase your personal files and is reversible.
click start
click all programs
click accessories
click system tools
click system restore
check the box that says restore my computer to an earlier time, click next
select a bold date on the calender, a date before the problem started, click next
follow through with the restore directions
restart the computer after it finishes
if the system restore does not work, select an even earlier bold date on the calender and repeat the procedure
try this with at least four earlier dates before giving up and trying something else
