:hello:

hey im new to the forum but found that the topics have been answered resonably well and so
ill give mine a try

SPECS
8800GT
946GMX-S2 mobo
E4400 O/C 2.85GHZ
2GB PC2-5300 (DRAM 475.5MHZ)
FSB:DRAM (3:5)
RATED FSB - 1141.2MHZ
Some after Market Cooler

Anyway,i put together a rig mainly for gaming and for some word processing (assigments and stuff for school) and i started overclocking my cpu (L2 BTW)i upped the voltage to 1.34375 raising the fsb to 285 (not touching the ram becuase i dont no how to)

so now im running completly stable using prime 95 and hours of gaming

but the thing is i want to push it to 3.0Ghz thats it - but i dont know if my rated FSB is too high - dont want to damage anything in my comp. at the moment i just raise the FSB by small amounts but am i missing anything to overclock to 3.0ghz other than voltage??
( i already got the cooling - 69 Degrees on two hours of prime and 37 degrees Idle) but its warm weather so ye

thanks

Never put the voltage at 10% more than stock. If you have a very good motherboard the only thing that will be overclocked is the memory and the processor, so you wont have to worry about damaging anything. If you do push it too far just use the clear CMOS jumper to reset the BIOS.

If you RAM is really running at 475MHz, that's DDR2-950, which is a big overclock for DDR2-667-rated RAM like yours. Why don't you get CPU-Z and post screenshots of all its screens so we can get a better idea of what's going on?

Ideally your looking at a 1:1 ram ratio, The vcore i would use is about 1.3800v which is still well within the limit of 1.5v, My E4500 needs 1.3800 in the bios so this may be a good starting point but ensure that your ram is set manually to the lowest divider in Bios. 69 degrees is running close to the TJ max temp so i would try to re-seat your cooler or check that the airflow in your case is good, You need a 300Mhz FSB for 3.0Ghz, your ram should be set to 300Mhz in bios and should be well within its limits, As long as you dont go over 30.Ghz you should be able to leave the ram at Auto in bios.

watch those temps.
cheers
