Highly unlikely and very doubtful . . . .

I would say it's a possibility as CFx is supposed to be "up to" 4 GPUs.

Hmm I would say highly likely, but we still have to wait to see how things scale. If the 3870x2 has 1Gb of RAM will it chop that in half to CF with a 512MB 3870? The two GPUs on the x2 should CF with a single 3870 I would think, so to me it sounds kind of like having a total of 3 graphic processing units with 1gb of ram either.

But we'll have to wait and see what ATi gives us for info during the launch, and of course the major sites will benchmark and test the bejesus out of it too.

Does anyone know for sure if three cards can run together Im not sure, but the drivers or Bios could limit crossfire to 1,2 or 4 cards.

yes they will be be able to crossfire. any card that use the same type of Crossfire interface can CF together, and no it will not cut the 1GB of ram n the X2 in half, it will but just like doing a 3-way crossfireX but only with two cards

Has any one been able to test this?

I believe it can. I think the Anandtech review stated this. But current drivers do not support this.

Yes it can, since the drivers themselves consider the X2 a single card, but, there is no support for crossfire X 3 and 4 way yet.

Well, as soon as any one finds out let me know please, ty

It's supported hardware wise, but the drivers don't have it enabled yet. So until ATI pops out with the driver optimizations for the X2, the answer is no.
