I own an external hard drive set (2x 500 gb drives) set up with Raid 1. The specs can be found here: www.cavalrystorage.com, model # CADA-C32. It is connected via USB 2.0 to my desktop.

I was downloading to the drive a few nights back and left my computer running, and awoke in the morning to find the drive "ERROR" lights on for both Hard drives. The drive sounded like it was still spinning. However, windows no longer recognizes the drive.

It sounds like a failed controller inside the external enclosure, does anybody have any experience with repairing these external raid drives? Can I simply swap controllers? I haven't opened the drive up yet, I am waiting to hear back from Cavalry tech support; however my warranty expired less than a month ago.

Thanks.

i wouldnt think it would be in the drives (you had two fail at same exact time).... i would check/replace your controller on your motherboard....
