Hi everyone!~

I would like to ask, for the Asus board, P5K/C, can I use DDR3 and DDR2 Ram at the same time?

Unfortunatley no, it's either one or the other not both. If your looking at the P5K series you may want to look at the P5K-E. You get onboard wi-fi that you dont get on the P5K-C. Also, DDR-3 only gives you marginally better performance than DDR-2 at this point. You wont see a point to use DDR-3 memory until we get processors with a native 1600mhz FSB which the P5K-C may not have support for.

I personally use a Gigabyte P35-dS3R-L and have no problems with it. Other recommended favorties are the Asus P5K-E and the MSI-P35D3 platinum.

Gigabyte $80-$100
MSI $150-$180
ASUS $140-$160

Give or take where ever you shop. All are stable and overclock very well. Also if you plan on the e8400 make sure you get a motherboard that has been preflashed with a bios for the 45nm or equvialant so that you can flash or you may run into trouble (that is if you have a 65nm processor lying around). I know some older stalk Asus P5K-E can run with the 45nm without a flash because of older bios on the board.

Flashing is the term used when the bios of the motherboard is changed "flashed" to another revision of bios either through the use of a bootable floppy disc, cd-room, or jump drive.
