Hey all my brother just bought a couple of new parts and I built the system for him. I connected everything but when I press the power button on the case all that happens is that the fans (cpu/psu/gpu) turn on for a 2 seconds and it turns off. Specs:

C2D 4500
Asus 8800gt
Asus P5N-E
OCZ 500W
G-skill 2GB

Any ideas?

Start from the basics. Take everything out of the case. Start with just the motherboard, cpu, 1 stick of ram, and the video card, all outside the case. If you can get it to POST from there, install the motherboard into the case, try again, add something, try again, etc. until you have everything hooked up or you find the offending part.

Make sure the HSF is securely seated and you have the precise number of standoffs and each is screwed down as well

Is the 4pin AtX cpu power plugged in? Try one stick of ram. Make sure the ram is running at spec if you get into Bios.
Is all the power plugged into the card?
