i am looking to put a wd my book world edition in my gun safe. the hard drive works off ethernet 10/100. can i connect a wireless access point to the hard drive and make it work with my d-link office router in my house? basically just wanting it to talk wirelessly so i dont have to run an ethernet cable into my garage. Can i still an access point in my garage on top of my gunsafe and connect it to the harddrive?

you could buy a wireless print server for it. i don't see why it wouldn't work with a hard drive. but more importantly, im not sure how good of an idea it is to keep your hard drive in there. i can see it overheating pretty quickly.

I presume this is a metal GunSafe?
If so a wireless device won't work inside the safe, you'd have to mount the wireless device outside and run a cable into the safe.

Also check your house insurance, using electronic or wireless device hear explosives is not a good idea, and may invalidate any insurance cover.

Yes, it is huge and it gets plenty of ventalation with my dehumidifing system in it. I dont mind running the cable out side the safe. But would something like the apple airport express work? or possibly the linksys gaming router?
