I need suggestions to fix the following:

I have a Gigabyte X48-DS4 running a Q9450 at 3.2 GHz (400x8).

I have a Sandisk Extreme Firewire CF reader plugged into the external firewire port.

Sometimes when I insert a card, the PnP beeps, then after a few seconds beeps again. Like it found it then lost it. Removing the card causes the system to reboot a short while later.

Another behavior sequence is insert the card - system recognises it, I can use it, but using the 'safely remove hardware' util causes it to hang - then the reboot.

It seems that if I get a good insert and just remove the card after using it, that it works. After a couple of minutes you hear the beep when it discovers that the card is gone, but no reboot for this.

Any suggestions - possible voltage tweaks, BIOS settings etc that could help ?

Thanks,
Craig.

First check if it happens when the CPU is not overclocked. Also, have you done any stress testing (e.g. Orthos in "blend mode") to verify your CPU/RAM are working well without errors?

Prime95 and MemTest86 both test out fine. The 1394 port is the only issue with this PC.

I'll have to try running stock for a while and see if it repeats.
