my system is SATA 150, MSI mother board MS-7312.
I need a new HDD and want a 500GB but can only find them in SATA 300. will it be backward compatable?
The main reason I ask is I read a review on one HDD that says the HDD had no jumpers and could only be converted from a SATA 300 to 150 on a SATA 300 system.
is this typical?
it has put my purchase on hold.
any info on brands that don't have this prob would be helpful.

TY!!

yes, the hard drive will be set to 150, in the case it doesnt you will have to use a jumper to manually set it up to 150, but with most mobo they will do it automatically. hope this helps

Then again, the chances of a crazed bunny rabbit with six legs bursting out of the drive increases when you set it to 150, so just take that in to consideration as well.
