I was able to get the upgrade, and got rid of the CPU loading error, but now the computer periodically reboots itself without prompting! Where does taht come from? I will be on the web and all of a sudden it shuts off and reboots.

Also on ASUS sight there were two upgrades. Am I to install both upgrades?
  2. You might have a virus causing the reboots.
Try to boot into the Safe mode (F8).
    Does it still reboot itself?

What are the two upgrades you are referring to?
If they are for different devices, then you probably want to install them both.

F8 does not take it to safe mode. It offers me the options of booting with a disk or dvd, or cd. It is XP Professional.
