Hey all,

I have a gigabyte x38-dq6 (bios f7) and i currently have my q6600 set to 3 ghz (333 x 9) and i have the load line calibration set to enable in the bios.

CPU Z reports a Vcore of 1.152V at 3 Ghz. This Vcore is rock steady under all loads and the computer is stable (othos prime 95 after 8 hrs, no change). I noticed that if i enable speedstep, the frequency varies from 2 to 3 Ghz but the Vcore stays the same, so there is really no energy savings of having speed step enabled. I have it currently disabled and run at 3 ghz all the time

Core temp reports idle temps at 31 and load temps of 39-42

Should i increase Vcore??

What version of CPU-z are you running? Does it correctly identify the CPU type, stepping, revision etc? If that is your true voltage, and it is stable, then no, don't increase vcore. I would double check that first though. That seems pretty low to keep 3.0 stable on 4 cores. If it is true and stable, then grats!! You might have a nice chip there :)

using CPU-Z v1.43 that correctly identifies the q6600 at 333 x 9, G0 version
The bios is set for a vcore of 1.1625v and cpuz reads 1.152, so there is some vdroop involved

I'm sure this voltage is possible...you may be just lucky....If you start to have any stability problems bump it up to 1.2125 or something.

Nice though, you should try to go for 3.6 or 3.8 with those temps

^ what he said. If you only have to push that much voltage for 3.0, you should try for 3.6 and see if you can outdo Wireless or Cnu. Wireless has one of the best binned Q6600's I've ever seen as far as voltage requirements. What does CPU-z show for your CPU VID?

Call me a chicken, i am happy with 3.0 Ghz, as i have 8gb of ddr2 667 ram running at 333 (1:1) at 1.82 V with the following timmings 4-4-3-9

Any more OC would involve new ram or upping the ram freq to 800 and a boost in ram voltage to get it up there, so if ever i get new ram modules then perhaps

There has to be point where we are happy to working within the comfortable limits of our pc
