I recently got an SLI-Deluxe mobo and it came with a SoundMax Superbeam microphone. But it doesn't seem to be working all that well.
When I test it in control panel it picks up my voice (barely) but only if I basically put it right up to my mouth. And even then it doesn't come through that well. I have the volume all the way up and the boost setting up but nothing. Its working, sort of, since it picks up my voice but only when its right near my mouth. And even then it barely comes through.
Sorry I can't be of any help to you cutter, but I am having the same problem. My soundmax superbeam came with that mobo (Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe) as well and it will not work in Windows (receives static) or counterstrike (receives no sound or static). I tried another microphone I had (logitech) and it didn't work either, so I'm thinking it is a mobo problem, but I'm not sure.

Hey Meow_mix, I got mine to work (coincidentally I was trying to get it to work with counterstrike too!) It seems that I had my microphone muted. I thought that could be the problem and so checked everywhere in soundmax to unmute it. Turns out the one place I DIDN'T check was in the normal volume control.
- I right clicked on the windows audio icon in the desktop tray
- chose open volume control
- Now, if you don't see microphone control there, go to 'options' in the top left and click 'properties'.
- Then under "show the following volume controls" make sure microphone is check off. Then click OK.
- Now make sure microphone volume is up about half way or so and is unmuted.
Also, make sure microphone boost is checked in the soundmax properties and that you have it set to soundmax superbeam in the microphone setting there as well.
i have m2n-sli deluxe I have audio static and weird digital screethces when I do stuff and sratches always. I figured out at the swoundmax audio panel at the bottom where it says record: soundmax hd audio If i select cd player or mic or line in it has the noise problem when I select stereo mix it vanishes I searched long and hard and figured this myself.
problem is if you want to record or just use your mic mainly you have to put mic. maybe not I will have to try to setup a game and use my mic try teamspeak or something and see if my hotkey still allows my mic to work. but now I can get audio from it unless I select it as recording device.
so if you just want to not have static try this I tried litterally every single other combo of options thsi was the last one. I was trying to get the green light from mic then it wouldnt go away unless you pick one of the other 3 and when I finally got to the last one stereo mix it got quiet and all music and sounds are clear now. gonna try to use my mic if it works I see the fix. I dont really intent to record stuff I just want my mic to work in gaming without any static sound or static on the mic. but for now problem 1 is gone I can watch movies or just surf in silence with no terrible noise I mean guys really terrible. Will not get another mobo with onboard soundmax!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so as of now the static may not be coming from the mic persay as it persits and is the same with it unplugged so its really the soundchip

I had the same problem. Then I realized I had to uncheck the "Front panel microphone" check box found under the Microphone Advance Control setting of either Windows Master Volume (sndvol32.exe) or the SoundMAX Control Panel.
Thanks!!! I've just had to check "2 Microphone Boost" instead of "1 Front panel microphone" in Advanced options on microphone in Recording Control Panel.
