Sounds like dell is trying to compete with Gateway's new FX...you get an AMD Phenom 9600 + 3 gigs DDR2 + 8800gt 512mb + other goodies (dont know the exact details off the top of my head) for around $1000...would still prefer to build my own system...lol

I believe you may be able to OC an XPS. (on second thought my friend may have had to flash his BIOS to OC) My friend has one you could at least, though it's two years old. Regular Dell systems of course will not OC but XPS is the enthusiast line.

I don't think Dell uses anything ther then Intel motherboards which means almost no OC. Even if you could OC most of the Dell motherboards I've seen won't even accept standard CPU coolers, so you're stuck with the what they come with which is usually worse then most stock coolers.

Why? So that you can have an expensive CPU and expensive RAM that run like crap? Oh, wait that's what a Dell is for.

OP, enjoy your new computer. It should be very solid and although it can be fun and rewarding to build your own, it's also very nice to have Dell's standard next-day onsite service when something goes wrong.

Of course, you are posting this on an enthusiast forum; naturally you should expect a lot of flack from the hardcore do-it-yourself crowd.

Adobe Premiere Elements Photoshop Elements is a great package for anyone who wants to start editing video at home. You can find the combo package under $100 sometimes, $150 typically. That's a great value to throw in for free on Dell's part.

That system is a good deal for an XPS. It's no enthusiast rig, but neither is it the dog some are making it out to be. It's those people still buying the latest greatest prebuilt $1000+ with Pentium D from Best Buy et al who are getting reamed. You made out well.
