err.... core temp reports my E4400 (oc'd to 2.114 GHz) 's VID as 1.3250v.... i heard that anything above 1.300 VID is like bad for your CPU.... is this the case for my low end 1? :(

your CPU's VID doesn't change when you OC. it is a set value.

what a VID is, is the voltage that intel says your CPU will run at stock speed.

the lower the VID you have, the more potential it has to OC because of less voltages need to be applied to reach higher speeds = less heat = more potential.

im afraid you have the worst VID at 1.3250. it's not "bad" for the CPU, it just means your CPU won't OC as high as others with lower VIDS.

it's pure luck...

that is why VID is not listed on the CPU box itself nor anywhere else.

it's pretty much a gamble.

.......unless you bought your processor from someone you know already, and you can check the VID on it yourself, but if its at a store that sells it brand new, you won't know.

Hehehe, or maybe there is a reason they are low end! Intel even added a throw back VID, remember? 1.3500 for the Chips that didnt quite make it at 1.3250, lol!

But yeah, their lesser series is pretty much all toss backs that couldn't be used at any other speeds and voltages.

Most of those series will be 1.3250.

Yee haw!

lol lupi are you alright... :p very nice comment tho.... i never knew that they based a CPU's clocks over its VID?! this really clears it up WOW!
