Opened a My Book, but was disappointed!

I recently read on a website called Ransackery.com on how to open a My Book to swap hard drives. Well, I got the My Book case open and removed the hard drive, but the connects were different then a standard IDE hard drive! Instead of IDE prongs, to connect to a IDE connectors, it had Gold colored, flat sliding connectors! So, I couldn't connect it to my desktop. My My Book must be a newer edition!

was it L shaped like a sata connection?
