Dell Inspiron won't shut down

Hello,
I have a Dell Inspiron, when trying to sleep, hybernate or shutdown it goes thru the motions and then reboots... any suggestions? Thanks

Most likely a task is running in the background, not allowing it to shutdown.

Prior to shutdown, have task manager running to see if you can spot a resource tab item taking cpu cycles, and that is probably the culprit.

Also check event viewer log for errors on previous days' shutdown.
