I will be putting the 120 Ultra Extreme with a Noctua fan onto my X48 DQ6 mobo and am wondering which placement is best.
Some say having it in a up/down config is the best for cooling. I am thinking of putting it up/down with the Noctua cooler on the "bottom" next to the northbridge heatsink so it blows the hot air from the heatsink straight up to the fan in the roof of my case. I am unsure, however, if I can fit the fan there as that Northbridge heatsink might block it?
You probably won't clear the RAM if you point it to the top, check it when you get it. I have mine pointed to the rear with the fan blowing into it toward the back fan, on a P35-DQ6 mobo.
Remember you may have to remove the first stick if it goes bad etc., so even if it fits make sure it is serviceable.
