Hi,

I looking for a (preferably) freeware PalmOS calculator with trig
functions - sine, cosine, tangent. (If it had hyperbolic trig
functions, that would be even better.)

The "Parens Lite" calculator I got when I registered my Palm m105 is
almost what I'm looking for, but it lacks the trig functions I'm wanting.

The full version of Parens does trig. Unfortunately, Rick Huebner stopped
selling / supporting Parens a few years back. You could probably find a cracked
copy of Parens out on the net somewhere, 'tho. I'm certainly going to be
bummed if my copy of Parens ever gets broken by a migration to a new device.

Oh, gak! EasyCalc is incredibly powerful, but it's gotta be one of the most
annoying calculators I've ever had occasion to use.

Kalk if you like a Reverse Polish calculator:

Thanks to all for the recommendations, especially Tony. I guess I
haven't been paying attention, but I wasn't aware of the
freewarepalm.com site.

I'll poke through there, as well as trying out the specific
recommenations, and decide which one is best for me.

Having used HP calculators for a long time, Kalk, and its RPN system, is
looking quite attractive to start with.

Thanks again.

Bob

What makes it so annoying to you?

Isn't it sad what HP is doing to their calculators now?

My primary objection is that the UI is unlike any classic calculator I've ever
used -- it's more like typing up an equation on the command line of an old-style
BASIC interpreter (albeit with lots of shortcut keys). Great stuff if you're
given to solving long, involved equations, but really annoying if you're used
to thinking in "calculator mode" (and after 30 years of banging away on
calculators, I'm kind of used to that mode).

I've got EasyCalc installed on my Palm, but the calculator shortcut goes to
Parens -- EasyCalc is only used when I need to do some seriously hairy
calculating.
