I'd like to have some small case, but bearing in mind that I will build my pc from scratch for the first time, should I get an EATX, or would I manage an ATX as well as eatx??
and which case would you recommend?

Extended ATX is usually for the larger server motheboards 12x12" or larger.
ATX cases handle the slightly smaller 12x9" desktop motherboards.

 

ATX MB will also fit in an EATX case and give you plenty of room. Some ATX cases can be a tight fit for working inside the case. Usually thats not a problem for a one-time build inside the case. Case examples:
(1) EATX CoolerMaster Cosmos 1000, (2) ATX gaming case Antec 900, (3) ATX desktop case CM Centurion 5
Compare size of case - bigger case = easy to work inside case.
Compare size and number of fans = more & bigger fans favor hot gaming PCs
Compare front panel options like USB, Firewire, etc and compare prices.

 

Antec 900 would make a great gaming case. CM Centurion 5 would be a great all-around case.
