I have checked the forum and can not get a straight answer. I bought an E6750 to tide myself over for the Q6600 a few weeks back, and planned to return it after I installed the Q6600 and had it working. First thing I did was see how much faster the Q6600 was at video converting, the only other CPU intensive application that I use, and found the Q6600 to be a little bit faster. The problem is, I noticed a roughly 10 FPS decline with the Q6600 over the E6750 in all my games except Crysis, which still suffered a 2-5 FPS decline in all but the highest settings, where they were the same. I replaced my Q6600 to see if it was just slow, but the same resaults kept coming up in general. My question is, is there something I'm missing, or am i destined to return the Q6600, since my main concern is gaming?
P.S. I had the E6750 to around 3.6 GHZ and the Q6600 at 3.4 GHZ.
Thank you for your answers, and I'm sorry for this most likely, already answered question.
No game is currently written to work on Quad core machines (execeptions are Crysis and FlightSimX). As your dual core was clocked slightly higher than the quad, this is the deciding factor.

Lets not forget Supreme Commander and Supreme Commander FA...Both work the best on Quad Core...
Hmmmm, well from what I have read, been told, and the reviews I have seen. The Q6600 is supposed to be one of the best for SupCom...or any Quad for that matter. It may not be just a CPU issue...It could be a number of things. I am, however, not a pro tech person. How much Ram are you using?
