NCIX says February. So I would assume the 4th at the earliest. I was also disappointed when it was not simultaneously released.

the 4th at the earliest u think, huh? wow... that sucks... im waiting on my new computer build till it comes out... i have 3 parts right now... waiting on the cpu, gpu, and mobo. im gonna go with the 8800gts g92 and possibly the abit ip35 pro plus this chip. wanted to get them all from newegg, but i dont think i will, considering the that fact that newegg seems to jack the prices up for a while when it comes out.

3.8 ghz at 1.2v? More likely..

E8400 vs E8500 will probably be like the E6750 vs the E6850 again: little performance/OC difference but a large price disparity.

3.8ghz Pentium D loading at 43C? What?

yeah... it will be... only real difference is that the 8500 will have the 1/2 jump for OCing... thats the main thing

It's worse than E6750 vs. E6850, at least E6850 had a full multi jump.

Another paper launch.
I wanted the E8500. The E8190, E8200, E8400 and E8500 I understood Intel would have quantity available by January 20th for the E8000 series.
So far I have only seen one retail store and a few e-tail stores with minimal stock of the E8400.

I settled for the E8400 for the time being. Upgraded from an E6550 and I haven't noticed a performance increase. And that is on a clean Windows install.

I saw one e-tailer had a notice stating the E8500 was expected to be in stock in early April. WTF? I think Intel is deliberatly holding back on the release to retail for the E8000 and Q9000 processors because of overstock on older processors and the lack of competition from AMD.
