I have quite a bit of money sitting in newegg gift certificates. I will be for sure getting an 8800gt OC 512mb card.

As you can see by my sig, I am OC'ed to 3.0, and can push it to 3.50 fairly easy, but I dont like. I dont have a temp problem. At 3.5Ghz my idle temp is 35c and full load didnt go over 41c.

Should I just save money and keep my OC'ed e6300? Would I be throwing away $200 for he E8400 when I have the same speed now but in an OC'ed chip?

Keep your OC'ed e6300. Perhaps go buy a Zerotherm Nirvana, which costs ~$40 at newegg. It can beat the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme unlapped .
Then Oc away.

Thanks for the reply. Why would I pay $40 for another cooler when mine keeps my OC & 3.0Ghz at 30c idle and 34-35c full load?? Like I said, I can push it to 3.5 and get stable by messing around with timings and the vcore and stay at about 35c on the idle and slightly over 40C on the full load....

Otherwise, I am thinking your right about the cpu situation... Seems to make sense

If you can push the OC any more on your E6300, keep it. If not, check the performance of your system after upgrading the VGA.

e8400 can't be installed in your motherboard(GA-965P-DS3). So keep e6300
