File download dialog box doesnt show what i downloaded

when i download something and the download box pops up it doesnt show whats downloaded.

Are you saying when you click to download something, the box that pops up to run/save doesn't have the info in it ? Got specifics ? Browser and file being downloaded etc. ?

That is what happens to me! The download box pops up but is empty. No filename, no bar showing progress, nothing. I can never tell if something has actually downloaded or not. I vaguely remember changing the settings a long time ago, but I don't remember how to change it back or what I did. I have a Dell Inspiron laptop, running Windows XP. It's a dinosaur but mostly works.

I know this thread is really old, but hopefully someone can help!
