Hi Guys,

I have some options for 8800 Series which I will be running Single VGA.

1. 512Mb 8800GTS: $437 AU

2. 512Mb 8800GT: $389 AU

Now overall compare these cards as in temps performance I don't know which one is going to be better for me.

Give me some ideas please...

PS: Please help me on brads too: I have brands in AU: ASUS, Gigabyte, Leadtek, XFX

With Gigabyte I think 8800GTS and GT it comes with Zalman cooler other standart flat base Nvidia Cooler.

Thanks,

What kind of resolution are you using, I have seen reviews saying that unless you are running at a high res then you wont get much benefit from the GTS, Also people have been saying that the standard cooler on the GT isnt that good and the cards run hot, some see the extra worth it as they feel that they would have to replace the cooler on the GT anyway and they are getting a better card for the future.
Brand wise i would just go with the company that is offering the best warranty or deals.
So if you are looking to save cash i would say get the best value (taking into account warrantys) GT that has a non standard cooler, or if you have the funds get the GTS.
Sorry its not a very clear cut answer, Can you post some links then we can see exactly what we are dealing with and maybe can give you a better answer.

Without knowing a little background info on your pc, I would say get the 512Mb 8800GTS. It's cooler, quieter, and faster. It also OC a lot better than the 8800GT.

I just bough an EVGA 512mb 8800GTS (G92) with Free Crysis game. These run a little cooler than the GT's because of the cooling on them, also should run slightly faster in some/most applications.

Mactronix said what I would have, the cooler on the 8800GT is crap. Go for the 8800GTS 512MB. :D

Yup, to be honest I won't even OC my two 8800GT 's with the stock cooler. It's worse than I thought even and I just can't take running 100% fan speed while gaming (too loud). So until I install aftermarket coolers I'll game at stock speeds on those cards. Had the 8800GTS 512MB been out then and priced within $50-60 of what I paid for each GT, I would have spent the extra for sure on the GTS 512MB's.

@pauldh : What kind of temps are you getting from those BFG OC's ?, I ask because I have a couple of Alpha Dogs moving into their new kennel next Friday and it would be nice to have baselines from a trustworthy source to compare with. TIA

EVGA make solid cards, I have owned three or four life time and find them to be a reliable manufacturer. Also, I would go for the GTS....

**Presently I have the EVGA 8800GXT, runs like a dream for about 6 months now.

if you are wanting to overclock the gts is better unless you add an aftermaket cooler on the gt but then it would be the same price if not more than the gts my gts is running sweet as as for brands go with either EVGA or XFX because both of them have warranty covered overclocking.

Well.. yea Factory maybe. But it's 112 SP versus 128 SP.

My GTS runs at 150 MHz core (for general stuff, about 200 MHz core) over your GT. About another 100-200 MHz over your Shaders (2030 MHz for benches) and 600 MHz DDR over the memory.

I still think the GTS is a better investment for an overclocker.
