Hi,
Is PCI Express Freq in anyway linked to how hot your GPU might run?
I'm running an 8800gts and my temps for games under load were in the low 80's but the other day i fixed
PCI Frequency in the BIOS to 100 MHz as people seem to recommend doing this, did a bit of gaming today and Riva Tuner was saying my GPU was hitting 100c.
Now i know it a nice warm day today here but christ it can't be ambient temp related. Could it be down to setting the PCI Freq or is it a different problem??
Advice please.
Cheers,
Panface

PCI lane frequency has nothing to do with it. GPU temps are dependable on the case temp and quality of the cooler on the graphics card or the functioning thereof.

I'd say check your case temp, fan operation of gpu (hardware - cleanliness on fan and surrounding area and/or software - fan duty cycle). Other than that, a high ambient temp can increase overall operating temps of all equipment.
Fan duty cycle in Riva Tuner is on 100% i'm guessing that's what it's supposed to be, right? Gpu's still idle at 61c with the fan running at 60% but jumping to 90 and up under load and it's now night here so i'm starting to feel somethings going wrong. Little change when i step up to 80% throttle.
