Ive been having some stuttering issues in games and have been trying several things without luck. Looking around in my device manager i noticed that vista was using both "Intel 82801 G (ICH7) Ultra ATA storage controller" and "Intel 82801 GR/GH (ICH7) SATA AHCI Storage Controller." I guess my question, and i could be completely wrong and look stupid, but is vista using 2 drivers to run my hard drive? It is a SATA Western Digital HDD.

If it helps, My system:
e6400 C2D
3gb Ram
8600gt graphics card
250gb Western Digital Sata Drive.
Vista Home Premium 32-bit.
Just curious. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Your board probably has two hard drive controllors on it. Many boards have this. One is a plain ole controllor while the other one can do raid or both can do raid. Dont worry about it.
The stuttering could be do to loading game levels or other info off the hard drive as it is the slowest component.

Thanks for the response. Im starting to believe the stutter may be heat related. Either way I was curious about the hard drive settings.
Thanks again!
