How can i install a compatible decoder in my laptop

my window media player cannot play the dvd because a compatible dvd decoder is not installed.
what can i do now?

  1. you can install cyberlink power DVD or one of several other DVD player software setups.
  2. Yes, that would work fine. DVD's are encoded using MPG2 and so you need an MPEG2 codec to play them. Any software DVD player will include one.

    I think media player classic has one, but it only works with that player. But its free.
