Yea these are really good scores. Remember that Crysis came out just a few weeks before AMD produced these drivers. It only goes up from here, and for the MSRP, this seems like a complete bargain and well worth the money for sure.
I love my 3870s. Unfortunately, my mobo won't handle 4 of them. I do have the Gigabyte GA-MA790FX-DQ6, and there are 4 slots for Videocards, unfortunately it won't fit 4 3870s. Just not enough physical room. I might be able to squeeze a 3rd in there. It will be close. These puppies play Crysis at 1600x1200 everything on HIGH, and it's a very enjoyable playing experience. LOVE em! And the price? I got 2 of these for less than an 8800 Ultra.
Unfortunately for us 8800 GTX owners, this is just another vid card not worth 'upgrading' to, the 9800GX2 may not even be worth an upgrade to when it releases. We need a new champion that makes us gtx owners want to go out and get.
Its only just a bit better then one ultra but I think the scaleability ratio is very high so adding a second one should close to 1.5+ times the performance.

I think we'll have to wait until November for the true replacement for the 8800GTX. Remember when the 7800GTX came out, I think a year later Nvidia released the 7900GTX then another year later the 8800GTX came out. In November I think we'll see the true successer to the 8800GTX or 9800GTX is it.

Agreed, dual card is all very well but the price nvidia intend to charge for the 9800gx2 is i believe going to be very very high.
I read somewhere that it was going for $450.

In the introduction we said that if the HD 3870 X2 performed better than the 8800Ultra then, considering price points, its release would effectively be as impressive as the launch of the 8800GT. Well, what we’ve seen today is a clear indication that the R680-based video card is definitely superior to the 8800Ultra, which maintains a street price of well over $600. MSRP of the HD 3870 X2 is set at $449 –a bargain considering the HD 3870, essentially half of the X2, goes for about $230. Now, given AMD’s recent history of availability woes, we don’t expect very many of these cards to be available for $449. Then again, a trip to the major e-tailers doesn’t exactly produce too many results for 8800GT’s at MSRP. All of these things considered, it is hard to gage whether or not the HD 3870 X2 will be successful in the marketplace."
Why the f..k are 1600 by 1000 widescreen rez still not benchied. Surely 20 and 22 inch monitors are the vast majority anyhows!!??
(end of rant)

Majority among who ?? bizzare resolutions with expensive monitors are pointless. Most people have monitors that do things like 1400x900 and 1280x1024, not ass hat 1666x999 or whatever

What happened to the Tom's Hardware article from yesterday, Tuesday 22nd, about the 3870 X2 card? I read it yesterday and now it is not on their site. I did a Google search and found a link that was dead. Anyone have any idea why they removed the article?
Oh the title of the article was" ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2-Fastest yet! Had some great benchmarks between the 8800 Ultra, 3870 X2, 3870.
I am in that thread, we were posted 50 minutes apart, I was the latter poster. I searched for any threads and at that time came up with nothing so I created this one. That thread has taken off more then this one has/will.

Could I have an idea about the price of HD 3880 X2 please? A bit expensive than the 8800 GTX perhaps?
Depending on what your Google search finds.... from $400-$800. I saw most things say closer to the $450-$500 mark.
