OS?

I'm a windows/web software developer who likes to do some gaming (quake, WoW, Total War, Civ, AoE, Company of Heroes).

I'm looking for suggestions on a PSU and OS and any general comments you have.

I'm currently thinking to dual boot winxp pro and vista 64.

Thanks!

For your system, just pick anything tier 1 or 2 from the list that rook posted and find something in the 480-550W range. (Check the Amperes on the +12v rail - Higher is better)

As for the OS, I think that Vista 64 will receive more attention and support... so you may want to give it a go.

1000W seems a bit excessive for my needs as does the $250 price tag.

Thanks for the link rook, I'll check those out.

Looks like I'll add the Corsair 520HX to my build.

Does anyone know if the power cable is long enough to route behind the motherboard in the Antec P182? The reviews on newegg are conflicting.

Terrible advice. How could that unit be considered cheap?

Id recommend 500-600W max with a focus on noise output. There is nothing more annoying than a noisy PSU when spending hours infront of a PC cutting code. At least some manufacturers should state the noise output.

PC Power & Cooling Silencer series are all very quiet. I would never go with a no name brand and expect the fan to remain quiet for more than a week. Not that I have any experience with that...
