Hi,
I have a garmin ique 3600 with palm os5. I am going on a business trip
to asia in a few weeks and because of time zone differences it will be
best to email my husband rather than call at 2:00am. <g>
I have a yahoo email account but can't figure out how to access it as
it seems to need a browser to login to get to my inbox.
Can anyone suggest what software I need to make this all work or maybe
a different global email provider, preferably free as this is a once
or twice a year thing.

I haven't actually tried it but VersaMail that came on my Palm T3 apparently
supports Yahoo mail. In the account setup Yahoo is one of the many options
for Mail. If you ahve VersaMail on the Garmin you might take a look at the
Account Setup and the help files.
One other thought is how are you going to get Net access? Do you have a
modem for this device? Do you have dial-in access from your ISP in Asia? You
might just want to consider popping into an Internet Cafe while you're over
there and using a Web browser to access email.
Cheers
TC

Make sure you have POP3 access with Yahoo; search for POP3 access
while logged on to Yahoo with your desktop. Then, you shouldn't have
any difficulties configuring Palm POP3 based clients, although SMTP
will *probably* be an issue; I always used my ISP's SMTP server as
opposed to Yahoo's.
Newer versions of Palm OS come with VersaMail installed, which I've
used to access Yahoo's email services with. Older version of Palm OS
come with a basic email client called "mail", and you must use a third
party exchange application such as Top Gun Postman, or PapiMail.

Have you paid for POP3/SMTP access with Yahoo! If not, only browser access
is available.

HotPop.com gives free POP3/SMTP accounts and they have been nearly as
reliable as Yahoo. Frequent testing shows they don't lose messages, but
occasionally their servers are inaccessible for short periods.
