newbie question thermal paste

do the new intel chips have a layer of thermal paste already on the chip (e6750) and enough or should i apply my own. if so, how should i go about applying it. thanks

all the retail boxes come with thermal grease pre-applied to the HSF. You just fix the thing on top of the processor and your good to go. You dont need to buy your own and apply anything unless your doing some serious overclocking.

not ac5 is better in cooling, the difference is about 2 to 3 degrees, but arctic ceramique is easier to apply and clean than ac5.

i use ocz's stuff and that works great for me. just dont be surprised if you dont get immediate results...it takes some time for the paste to "break in". after a few weeks my temps dropped an additional 3 or 4 degrees idle and load. as for applying it, online instructions will tell you to put a dab the size of a grain of rice directly in the middle. as long as your heatsink is fastened tightly there shouldnt be any air pockets in there. good luck
