Cold Cathodes

I might be getting some cold cathodes later on, but I'm kinda unnerved by the stories of them exploding and killing some hardware? Any of you guys had this kid of an experience? Any specific brands...?

CCFLs are used by most LCDs for back lighting. i would imagine that they dont "explode" that often.

Thats rubbish, the lights have a film cover around the bulbs.

I have used them for over 7 years in computers, autos, home. Never ever had anything remotely close to an explosion. I have had a couple of inverters fail after several years of constant use but thats it.

I don't know some case modders have stories of it happening, I'm mainly worried because they ones they well for cases at Fry's or whatever look really cheap.

Then dont buy the ones fomr frys,but from neweggor other e tailers.

Never heard of exploding ccfl's before.
Ive killed a few and had a few die, but afaik, they dont explode.
There MAY be an explosion of sorts in the tube when they die, but nothing escapes.
