I was going to get one (or both) of these EVGA 8800GTX video cards. I was wondering if anyone knows what the difference is. They seem like identical cards (maybe the difference in model# is because of the bundle?)

EVGA 768-P2-N831-AR

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] P2-N831-AR

EVGA 768-P2-N831-A3

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] P2-N831-A3

(as you can see the only difference in the model # is the AR vs A3) but one comes with Crysis and the other comes with Quake Wars.

I wanted to get both of these games so I was wondering if the video cards were the same...in that case if I were going to do SLI I'd get one of each instead of getting 2 of the same package/model.

thanks for your input!

You can get one of each and SLI them, they won't care. Enjoy your two new games.

The difference lies in their clock speeds. One's faster than the other, which means if you bought both and SLI'd them, they'd run at the speed of the slower GTX.

But, to be honest, buying either one would probably be a complete waste of money. The 8800GT is typically as fast or just a tad bit slower than the 8800GTX, and the new 8800GTS (G92 core) with 512MB RAM is faster. Both are significantly cheaper than the 8800GTX, which means you could buy two 8800GT or two 8800GTS cards, SLI them, and still have enough money left over to buy the two games.

Personally, I'd get this: EVGA 8800GTS 512 w/Crysis
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814130312

And this: EVGA 8800GTS 512
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814130325

Same cards, same speeds, but one comes with Crysis. Then, with the money you're saving, buy Quake Wars. And guess what? You're still saving almost $200 AFTER you buy Quake Wars. And, to top it all off, you're getting better-performing cards. What more could you ask for?
