Hello,

I want to build a new system also, around the intel q6600 quad processor.
I will go with 2 gb ddr2-800, kingston i guess, of ram ; gf 8800 gt, asus;500 gb hdd by samsung 16mb sata and an
asus optical driver dvr-rw.
I dont need a mainboard with sli or crossfire support so i want to go with a single pci express board. i was thinking
about an Asus P5K-WS. Does anyone has an opinion regarding this board or can give me some guide on this build(any pro or contrarary infos about this board will be great)?
Thanks a lot :) .
P.S. This is my first post

I'd go with this ASUS P5K E and save some money. It has 2 x PCIe x 16 slots but that really doesn't matter, you can use just one. I really not sure what the differences between the boards are, you'd have to check ASUS for each board but they look pretty much the same

i don't really understand your question but u can still use only one PCI express port as i think (almost sure) that the second PCI express will work only at 4X speed (instead of 16/ limitation of the P35 chipset).

Asus P5K WS is a good choice. Just make sure the rams you'll buy are compatible. U can look for the compatibility list on the asus website.

hope this helped
