I'm buiding a new MOBO for myself but I don't know what I should buy as a motherboard.

I really don't play games on the computer and I want to buy a fast machine to be able to run some video editing software like AVID and 3DMAX; AutoCad..

I decided to buy a Q6600 processor.
Already bought Antec Case P182 and Power Supply Cooler Master 750W.
Now I'm going to buy the processor and the motherboard but which motherboard is better.

I do want some with 02 PCIe 2.0 and I prefer something that I can use DDR2 and DDR3.

Should I buy one with Nvidia chipset or Intel..??? P35 or X38..??

I was looking into Asus, Gigabyte and EVGA and Intel but there are so many models that I'm all confused now.

My budget is currently $1300.00.

If you want PCI-e2.0 you will have to go with x38... which is more expensive, but if you arent gaming why do you want PCI-e2.0?

Why do you want support for DDR2 and 3? Most boards that are combo's arent as stable and you arent able to install as much RAM (i think limit is usually 4gb since theres only 2 slots for each type)

EVGA only makes NVIDIA chipsets, you really only get them for SLI in turn SLI is for gaming so i would eliminate them.

Personally id go with Gigabyte GA-p35-DS3L or ASUS P5K-e if you need firewire etc. although both these boards are DDR2 only they support 8gb which maybe nice on a 64bit OS for video editing. Neither have PCI-e2.0 but i dont see why you need it if you arent gaming, all PCI-e2.0 GPU's are backwards compatible with PCI-e1.1

I thought I would need PCIe 2.0 in order to be able to have a better video card on it.

I was planning to crossfire with ATI but my friends are telling me to get GT8800.

You dont need 8800GT to play solitaire or minesweeper.

If you dont play games then move to a budget P35 mobo and a budget graphic card (2600XT -> softmod to FireGL - this might be better for the programs you use). If you ever decide to game than you can always buy a better graphic card.

I wouldnt want you to throw away your money just because your friends tell you to. (If you want to then I won't stop you)

780i would be your best choice and sli gt's are much better then crossfired 3870's but again if you don't game then a simple p35-ds3l and and a $50 gpu is more then enough... If you do plan on doing some gaming then a 9600gt or 8800gt would be great in your price range.
