I recently bought an infrared device which was working just fine at the store
where it used windows xp (SP1). When I tried installing the driver to my
computer, the hardware wasn't working properly in my computer. Could the
problem be because I'm using SP2?

If I try to remove the program windows xp (SP2) just to see if the hardware
would work properly, would this cause a problem for my computer?

Marta

Rather than remove a major security patch from your computer, why don't you
ask the manufacturer of the infrared device how to get it to work with SP2,
and if they have no answer, then ask why because SP2 has been around long
enough for them to have produced something that works..

What did the deviced manager show? Did you run Microsoft Update (custom) to
see if there was a hardware update?
