Q6600 processor

Here are the two memory options. I order the first one below already from Newegg. I could not open it and
order the one below, which is faster. I guess I want to know how much of a difference going from CL 4 from CL 5 is going to make. Going to be a pain to get a RMA from Newegg and ship this other memory back, along with a cost of a few days in building but if it makes enough of a difference I will. Above MB and chip I am running.

Even if you OC you probably won't notice the difference.

1st off your links are junk! there not taking me to the product at all. go into the actual "description page" for that product and copy that address and paste it.

2nd great choice in mobo as i have that one. got mine last week, but paired it with an e6550. so your overclocks will be much better than mine!

Now is one memory better then the other.. I don't understand the CL 5 - CL 4? If the number is higher this is better?

The converse is true. The lower number means "faster" ram. The number corresponds to how many clock cycles it takes to activate a certain part of the ram. Therefore a lower number means less latency...less latency generally is perceived as "faster". There are many applications where CL4 will outperform CL5, and there are some instances where they will be similar.

Anyways, simply put, CL4 is "better".

I experimented with that by changing my timings and running 3d mark. the difference was small, like less than 100 points. For gaming, you won't notice a difference. It'll probably be more of a hassle to do all the returning. Have you tried forcing your ram to faster timings? Sometimes they'll do that, depending on the ram.

Speeds and latency.....

The two parts are essentially the same. The DHX indicated a fancier heat spreader which is not necessary. It also runs at a lower cl4 instead of cl5 which is good, but will not make a noticeable real difference to your programs. It does this by running at 2.1v instead of 1.8v I do not think the difference is worth much.
