I'm seeing two different product numbers for this CPU:

1. BX80570E8400
2. BX80570E8400A

What's the deal with the extra "A" I'm seeing at some retailers?

From Intel's website here http://processorfinder.intel.com/d [...] Spec=SLAPL :

Product Order Codes:

Box Order Code:
BX80570E8400A
BXC80570E8400
BX80570E8400

OEM Order Code:
EU80570PJ0806M

There doesn't seem to be a difference based on the retail box codes. Maybe it depends on the Intel distributor the box is shipped from?

I called Intel's "pre-sales" support number, spoke with a "somewhat" knowledgeable guy, and he never knew there were several product numbers ... so we found the link I posted above. He speculated that the "A" product was the latest and greatest ... but couldn't tell me why ...

I have even seen some websites offer both product codes, but after lots of searching I can't find the difference!
