I was just browsing my mobo updates and saw a BIOS update that showed support for the new Q9xxx chips. Now normally when Asus releases CPU support updates in the BIOS it is normally a week before the release. Anyone think Intel is planning on a release in Febuary? That would be nice as I kinda want one for my own evil purposes....

????

the Q6600 may be better the 9000 cpu's

the E8400 and E8500 are state of the art gaming cpu's -there is still no quad threaded game to date!

Spud's right - QX9650 is already out. No "consumer" versions just yet tho, just the Extreme.

Well the weird thing is that the first BIOS update(802 or something) was for the QX9650 support. The latest ones have added support for the Q9300, Q9450 and Q9550. It also added support for the Q6400. Confused? Its a 2.13GHz quad core. I guess it is being released as a low end quad to compete against Phenom.

I am just guessing here but if Asus just updated the BIOS for support wouldn't you think the chips are on their way?

You need to go to your mobo manufactuers website to download it for your model. Also you should read the manual to see what methods you can use to update the BIOS.

Asus has 2 very easy update methods. The first is update BIOS through Windows. The second, and my faveorite for ease of use, is from the thumbdrive through a program loaded on the mobo in the BIOS.

Most updates are for one of two things. CPU support or to fix something/enhance the performance. I update when possible for CPU support. Cuz I really want a Q9450 and now I can have one no new mobo needed YAY!!!
