So I have a question regarding overclocking. I have my CPU FSB for my e8400 set at 420. I have PC2-8500 (DDR2-1066) RAM -- if I run the ram synchronously, then I'll be "underclocking" the RAM for it to run at 841 MHz. Otherwise, if I use a divider, I can get the RAM to run at 1051 MHz. However, I found that I can tighten the timings if I can get the RAM at 841, but I'd have to leave it at 5-5-5-15 if I ran it at 1051. So my question is:

Does running the ram synchronously AND having tighter timings beat having the ram run at a faster speed asynchronously and with default timings?

the short answer is YES. the long answer is more complicated and i have no idea wat it is :p theoretically it should own the asynchronous 1051 MHz.... just run a bench with both lol.
