Hello tom's people (love you guys you know so much !!)
So I'm thinking about RMA'ing my p5k-e Wifi. I had problem when using speedmem to boost my ram up to 1066mhz, it would blue screen in most games I played (UT3, TF2, Crysis). Ive put it back to 800mhz and all is fine from that point of view (even tough I never went back in Crysis , it makes my video card do strange noises and it scares me lol)
But sometime the PC jsut wont start on the first boot. I starts to post, but then ends on a "black" screen ie: My video card stops emiting, fans are still running but nothing comes out my video card. I reset and it usually boots fine.
Now its not that big of a deal for me, but I want to sell that computer in the next month or so because i'm not really using it much for what its worth. And I dont want to have the potential buyer come back on me because the computer has a screwy Mobo. (and I dont want the blue screen problem to come back)
My question is IF I RMA the board , can I ask for a different model because I know all P5k-e Wifi are screwy (found that out after I bought it) and what board should I go for ! ???
Setup : e8400 (45nm)
4gb Ram
Geforce 8800GT 1024mb
1 Sata II drive
I'm looking for something thats not more than 200$ as I payed 150 for the p5k. and thats only if Asus will replace my board for a different one.
sounds more like your graphics card needs an RMA dude... and why were you trying to push DDR2-800 to 1066??? that's just asking to break something... You don't get much of a speed increase out of it and it usually works better if it is at a 1:1 with the FSB.
I'm also pretty sure you will get the same board back, but you should call Asus customer service to confirm.
