I have P5N-E SLi with BIOS 0608. Since I got my MBO several BIOS updates have available. I plan on updating my BIOS, but I have some questions.
Here is the BIOS download page : http://support.asus.com/download/d [...] 5N-E%20SLI
Now,the newest BIOS (0901) states only enhanced memory compatibility.
My question is ,are the other updates from previous BIOS versions available in this one(like X-Fi compatibility and E8x00 series from BIOS versions 0801 and 0803 respectiveliy)?
More than likely i would have thought. Why is it ur updating? planning an upgrade, trouble overclocking? If not and ur comp is running fine i wud leave it. You can seriously balls up your mobo if something goes wrong during flashing it.
I run 0803 and have no probs with it, thus far anyway
I am planing on buying X-Fi Xtreme Gamer sound card.
One BIOS version states solved problems with X-Fi soundcards (and Razer Copperhead mouse) so i thought to kill two flies with one stone and update to the newest BIOS version,so that I may buy e8x00.
The Asus support didn't return my mail, about this issue, and I would like to know, does the new BIOS version contain updates from all previous versions?!
First I'll get the soundcard, and if there is a problem, I'll update BIOS. But to what version? That is why I started this post.
I shud imagine that they do, cant see why they wouldn't.
also if u want the wolfie you'll need at least 0803 previous versions of the BIOS dont support it. that particular verions you noted says it increases compatibilty with that card, cud b you;d b fine without, however u want a 45nm cpu you'll need 0803.
Yes i'm aware of that fact, that BIOS version 0703 doesn't support wolfendale CPU. But does nhe 0803 resolve problems with X-Fi sound cards?
I also think that the newer BIOS versions should contain previous updates, but I can't find that information, and I want to be 100% sure.
the new version will include all other updates, unless they removed some. Word of caution: BE CAREFUL while updating. I had that board, and turned it into a plastic frisbee after a failed BIOS update attempt. Cross fingers, say a prayer, and for the sake of everything holy, don't touch the computer while it's flashing the BIOS. If it fails, you have to send the board in and wait for a replacement, since the BIOS chip is soldered to the board.
