Which is better C0or G0 stepping?

I am thinking of going with a E8400 processor and i noticed that is has C0 stepping..is that better than G0 stepping?? Also, do you think i should wait for the E8500 instead of the E8400..does anyone know how expensive it will be?

I could be wrong about this, but I don't believe that the E8400 comes in G0 stepping. And, since the E8400 was very recently released, it probably only comes in C0.

I wouldn't waste my time waiting for an E8500; the only difference would be a slightly higher clock speed, which you can easily acheive with just a little OCing.

G0 stepping only applies to Intel's Core 2 Quad, as well as FSB 1333Mhz Core 2 Duos.

The newer Core 2, E8400, which is built on 45nm process (as opposed to 65nm on the C2Q and older C2D), has a new C0 stepping. They should be more power efficient than the G0 stepping.

That does get confusing on the steppings.

But if you can remember the Q6600 (kentsfield quad B3 or G0) is 65nm vs E8xxx 45nm (wolfdale C0).

So 45nm are going to be more power efficient as well as perform better. (or at least its suppose to be that way :lol
